Cycladic Dream
My recent trip to Greece was so rich and full of adventures that I can’t narrow it down to one single article. In this one, I chose to talk about what is probably one of the most popular honeymoon destinations: Santorini. I went there with my wonderful date Rébéka (who also happens to be my best friend), and we spent two days on this tiny island.
We arrived very early at the airport (7am), and took a taxi to our first hotel in Kamari, but note that you can also travel to Santorini by ferry. Here’s a local company that will help you get the best price for your ticket.
Upon our arrival at Sigalas, I immediately knew this was going to be an amazing experience. Kamari is on the East side of the island, and is bordered by a beautiful black sand beach. After our check-in, the owner suggested that we go have breakfast by the pool while waiting for our room. Half an hour later, our room was ready, and to our surprise, we had gotten an amazing upgrade for an “On the Beach” suite.
We spent all morning tanning, then decided to go for lunch in downtown Kamari, and headed to Oia in the afternoon. One of the questions I asked myself before my trip was: should we rent a car while in Santorini?
The answer is NO! Roads are tiny, narrow, steep; you’ll have a hard time finding parking and you will for sure get scared of the massive buses that are coming the opposite way. We opted for buses. Tickets are €2.80 each way, so that’s pretty reasonable.
If you want to catch the sunset in Oia, I would suggest arriving around 3 or 4pm, otherwise it’ll get packed pretty quickly, and you will probably not enjoy your experience as much.
The next day, we arranged transfer from one hotel to another since we had booked a second room on the West Coast, at the CSky Hotel in Imerovigli. We really wanted to enjoy the magnificent view on the Caldera from the comfort of an infinity pool terrace. Here’s why:
We spent all day in the sun enjoying the beautiful pool, and some good cocktails and wine. We even decided to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The staff was absolutely lovely! Definitely recommend checking it out!
