When planning my recent trip to Greece, I would say that the most difficult thing was choosing which islands I wanted to visit. There are so many of them, and they are obviously not all close to each other, so you have to choose thoroughly.

Last spring I came across some pictures from this gorgeous travelling couple: Jack Morris and Lauren Bullen. The photos were taken in that magical white place and seemed pretty unreal. I quickly found out that they had captured these shots on the tiny island of Milos. Thankfully, this island is located not too far away from Santorini, which made my life easier while planning!

Due to its volcanic activity, Milos has become a very colourful island over time. From white to black, to red, orange, silver, green, and many more… There are some stunning places to see there! It's also less touristic compared to other Greek islands, which makes sightseeing more fun!

Sarakiniko Beach

This is the white heavenly place I saw on the pictures, and just like most Greek destinations I’ve visited, photos don’t do it justice.

Paliochori Beach

Located on the South shore of the island, this beach is surrounded by impressive orange cliffs. Other beaches like Kipos or Provatas also showcase a mix of yellow, white and orange colours. I definitely recommend checking these out.

Plaka Town

No wonder why this super cute village is the capital of the island. The downtown area of the city consists in tiny pedestrian streets decorated by flowers, gift shops and restaurants. Definitely worth visiting!

Kimolos Island

If you have time, I also highly recommend taking a day trip to Kimolos island. Ferries depart from Pollonia a few times a day. There are approximately 900 people living on this island, and most roads are dirt roads. I absolutely adored my experience there, as there were almost no tourists at all, only donkeys crossing our way. After about 20 minutes driving, you get to this magnificent beach in Prassa.

Boat Cruise to Kleftiko

Lastly, a trip to Milos isn’t complete without going on a one-day boat tour to Kleftiko, also known as the pirate bay. I personally strongly encourage you to book with Oneiro. Elias and Dimitri will make your trip memorable. The journey started around 9am, and we returned around 7pm. You’ll make different stops along the way to admire the beautiful coast of Milos, including tiny fishermen villages. You will also often stop for snorkelling in majestic areas, and enjoy fresh seafood and local alcohol: ouzo.
